Introduction

The ACTCAD Network License Manager (NLM) provides a centralized way to manage floating licenses across multiple users. Licenses are hosted on a server and distributed to client PCs on demand, ensuring efficient usage and simplified administration.

1. License Activation

1. Navigate to the ACTCAD installation directory.
2. Launch ACTCAD_Network_License_Manager.exe.
3. Click Activate License.
4. Paste all license keys into the activation dialog box (no extra spaces).
5. Click Activate. A confirmation message will appear once successful.

2. Starting the Server

1. Click Start Server in the NLM interface.
2. The interface will display product version, available licenses, in‑use count, and free licenses.

3. Configuring the Server IP Address

1. On the server PC, run ipconfig /all in Command Prompt.
2. Copy the IPv4 address.
3. On the client PC, create serverip.txt in the ACTCAD bin folder.
4. Paste the IPv4 address into the file and save.
5. Launch ACTCAD on the client PC. It will connect to the NLM automatically.

4. Using ACTCAD on a Client PC

Ensure the client PC is connected to the same LAN as the server. With serverip.txt configured, ACTCAD will automatically obtain a license when launched.

5. Viewing License Usage Logs

1. In the NLM interface, click Usage Log.
2. The log displays PC name, license start time, and end time.

6. Network Timeout Feature

1. In the NLM interface, set the Client Timeout value (in minutes).
2. Example: A 15‑minute timeout will release the license if inactive.
3. When the user resumes work, the license is reallocated if available.

Warning: If a drawing is not saved before timeout, the license will be released and unsaved work may be lost.

7. Adding New Licenses

1. Open ActCAD_License_Server_Manager.exe on the server.
2. Click Activate License.
3. Paste both existing and newly purchased license keys.
4. Click Activate. The server updates with the new license count.

8. Take‑Away Key Feature

The Take‑Away Key allows a user to borrow a license for offline use. This is especially useful for laptops or remote workstations that need ACTCAD access outside the office network.

Steps to Generate a Take‑Away Key

1. Open the NLM Manager on the server.
2. Stop the License Server if running.
3. Click Take Away Key.
4. Enter the following details:
   • Registered Email Address
   • Password
   • Product Type (Standard, Premium, Map Drafter)
5. Click Submit.
6. A Take‑Away license key will be generated.
7. Activate the generated key on the client machine.

9. Monitoring Borrowed Licenses

Administrators can track borrowed licenses using the Usage Log. This ensures visibility into who has taken a license offline and when it will expire.
