RTEXT Command — Inserting Rotated Text from External Files in ActCAD
The RTEXT command in ActCAD is used to place rotated text into a drawing. Unlike standard text commands, RTEXT can import text content directly from an external .txt
file, ensuring that annotations remain consistent and easily updated.
This feature is especially useful for standardized notes, legends, or repeated text labels where content may change outside the drawing environment. Once linked, RTEXT allows users to control Style, Height, and Rotation and can refresh automatically when the source file is updated.
Steps to Use RTEXT in ACTCAD:
1) Launch the RTEXT Command
- Type RTEXT in the command bar → press Enter.

2) Select Options in First Popup
- Choose from Style, Height, Rotation, or File.
- Select File → browse to and open a
.txt
file.

3) Specify Base Point
- Click a point in the drawing (or type coordinates) to set the insertion point.

4) Adjust Settings in Second Popup
- Options now include Style, Height, Rotation, EDIt, and Exit.
- Use EDIt to make modifications on the text.
- Select Exit once settings are finalized.

5) Place Text
- RTEXT inserts the content from the selected
.txt
file at the chosen location, with the specified height and rotation. - Press Esc to finish or continue placing more instances.

Conclusion:
The RTEXT command in ActCAD simplifies the process of inserting and managing text that comes from external files. By linking .txt
files, users can maintain consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in their drawings. RTEXT is particularly valuable for repetitive notes, legends, and documentation that need easy updates without re-editing text inside the CAD environment.
