POWERDIM – Enhance Existing Dimensions in ACTCAD

The POWERDIM command in ACTCAD is used to add advanced details to existing dimensions, making them more precise and compliant with engineering standards. Instead of creating new dimensions, POWERDIM provides a quick way to apply tolerances, limits, fits, and inspection symbols directly to dimensions that are already placed in the drawing. This makes it an essential tool for preparing manufacturing-ready technical drawings.

Steps to Use POWERDIM in ACTCAD:

  1. Launch the POWERDIM Command

    • Type POWERDIM in the command bar → press Enter.

    • Or navigate to the Annotate menu and select the Power Dimension command from the Dimensions section.

  2. POWERDIM
  3. Select an Existing Dimension

    • Click on the dimension you want to enhance.

    • The Power Dimension’s Enhanced dimensioning dialog box will appear.

  4. POWERDIM
  5. Apply Enhancements

    • Use the available options in the dialog to add:

      • Tolerances: Apply symmetric, deviation, or limits of size.

      • Fit Symbols: Apply MMC (Maximum Material Condition), LMC (Least Material Condition), or RFS (Regardless of Feature Size).

      • Precision: Set decimal accuracy and rounding.

      • Additional Information: Insert inspection data, notes, or prefixes/suffixes.

  6. POWERDIM
  7. Confirm Changes

    • After applying the required modifications, click OK / Apply.

    • The selected dimension will update with the new enhancements.

Conclusion:

  • The POWERDIM command in ACTCAD transforms ordinary dimensions into fully detailed engineering annotations by adding tolerances, fit symbols, and other critical manufacturing information. This ensures compliance with design standards such as ISO or ASME and provides machinists and quality inspectors with the exact specifications they need.

  • POWERDIM improves drawing clarity, reduces errors, and enhances communication between design and production teams.
