CONVERTPOLY – Convert Between Heavy and Lightweight Poly lines in ACTCAD
The CONVERTPOLY command in ACTCAD is used to convert between 2D heavy poly lines (also known as POLYLINE) and lightweight poly lines (LWPOLYLINE). This command is essential for maintaining compatibility across different CAD workflows, especially when dealing with legacy files, 3D geometry, or performance optimization.
Step 1: Launch the CONVERTPOLY Command
- Type CONVERTPOLY in the command bar and press Enter.
- ACTCAD will prompt for a setting:
- Enter 1 to convert selected poly lines to lightweight poly lines.
- Enter 0 to convert selected poly lines to heavy (2D) poly lines.

Step 2: Set Conversion Mode
- Type 1 → Converts to LWPOLYLINE (recommended for modern 2D drafting).
- Type 0 → Converts to POLYLINE (useful for 3D data, legacy compatibility).

Step 3: Select Polylines to Convert
- ACTCAD will prompt you to select the poly line(s) to convert.
- Use a selection window or click on individual polylines.
- Press Enter to apply the conversion.

Visual Confirmation
- Use the PROPERTIES palette (CTRL + 1) or LIST command to verify:
- Object type is shown as either "Poly line" or "Lightweight Poly line".
- You can visually notice:
- Lighter memory usage in large drawings.
- 3D features preserved in heavy polylines (e.g., different Z-values at vertices).

Conclusion:
The CONVERTPOLY command in ACTCAD is a powerful utility that helps users optimize drawings for performance, compatibility, or 3D modeling precision. By converting between lightweight and heavy poly lines, you can tailor your drawing entities to match the needs of modern or legacy workflows. Whether you're preparing drawings for export, editing 3D layouts, or cleaning up imported geometry, CONVERTPOLY ensures you’re using the right poly line type for the task.
